Your canvas, inside Claude and ChatGPT

Connect Notebook once, and your assistant can build real HTML documents from your sketches — dashboards, reports, decks, flow boards — with your data, your logo, and full version history.

Takes about two minutes · Works with Claude and ChatGPT

Sketch it

Draw the layout on the Notebook canvas, or just type what you want.

Send it

One tap sends your prompt, pages and files to your assistant.

It builds

Claude or ChatGPT writes the document and saves it straight to your project.

Use it

Edit on the canvas, share a link, export a PDF. Every version kept.

Add the connector

Three ways in: the Claude connector, the ChatGPT connector (needs Developer Mode), or a Custom GPT with your Notebook API key — the Custom GPT route works on ChatGPT Plus.

1

Create your Notebook account

Free to start. You'll need it so the connector has somewhere to save your work.

Create account

2

Open connector settings in Claude

In the Claude app or claude.ai, go to:

SettingsConnectorsAdd custom connector
3

Paste the Notebook connector URL

Leave the optional OAuth fields empty — Claude fills those in itself.

https://notebooks.live/mcp
4

Approve the connection

Notebook shows a “Connect to Notebook?” page with your account name. Click Approve and you're done.

Make sure you're signed in to Notebook in the same browser — that's how it knows which account to link.
5

Say “open Notebook”

Claude lists your projects, helps you pick one, and gives you a direct link. From there, ask it to build anything.

Available on every Claude plan, including Free — though Free accounts can have only one custom connector at a time.

What you can do once it's connected

Notebook does the parts a chat window can't: a real canvas, real files, and documents that keep their history.

Sketch → document

Draw a layout on the canvas, hit Send, and get back a working HTML dashboard or report built to your sketch.

📊

Your real data

Attach a CSV or spreadsheet and the artifact queries the actual rows — no invented numbers.

Your brand

Upload a logo and it's embedded as the real file, never redrawn or approximated.

Version history

Every build and edit is a version you can compare, restore, or roll back — from either side.

Share & export

Publish a share link, download a self-contained HTML file, or export a clean PDF.

💬

Ask, don't build

Switch Build off and your assistant answers questions or returns files right in the Notebook chat.

Questions

Do I need a Notebook account first?

Yes — the connector saves work into your projects, so it needs an account to link to. If you start from Claude or ChatGPT without one, the approval page will point you to sign-up; you can create the account there and then approve. Signing up is free and takes an email address.

Can I connect both Claude and ChatGPT?

You can add the connector in both, but only one drives a Notebook at a time. Choose which in Notebook's side panel under Settings › Connect to Claude / Connect to ChatGPT. The Send button in the co-pilot follows whichever is switched on.

What does it cost?

Your assistant writes the documents, so that work runs on your Claude or ChatGPT plan. Notebook credits are only used if you ask Notebook's own builder to do the work instead.

My assistant stopped listening — how do I resume?

Assistants can only listen for a few minutes per turn. When it goes quiet, work in Notebook, press Send, then type go in the chat — it picks up whatever is waiting.

Is my data shared with anyone else?

No. The connection is scoped to your account: your assistant sees only the projects and files in your Notebook, and you can revoke access at any time from Notebook's settings.
